Ensemble is a robust collaboration and development platform built on the same hardware platform as Holopoint. Users are able to manipulate a mixed reality representation of CAD projects, Face-to-Face meetings, Ideation and Prototyping sessions, Experience design, and any other facet that can be digitally adapted to the platform.
Ensemble allows new ways for team members to enter the office from home in a manner that’s touchless yet still productively tangible. The space itself is designed to be a studio office, with double entry ways in each meeting room for a “6ft apart” meeting. In addition, workspaces are distanced accordingly with windows aiming to open up the space.
The pursuit of seamless and unrestricted collaboration are what fundamentally drove this project to its current state. I often ask myself, “How do we improve the design experience for non-designers?” And in my analysis of this I find that the answer lies within how humans naturally perceive and communicate ideas, both externally and internally.
At the core of this is the idea of using gestures and other natural human intuition to communicate these ideas-- and as a byproduct, the vehicles in which we use to capture these inputs (gesture, voice, etc..) cease to require touch input alone. I designed Ensemble and Holopoint to complement the designed space and deepen collaboration with team members, while still being able to maintain safe social distancing and enhance digital socialization capabilities.
